Our Foundation and Our Purpose

First and foremost, we are devoted to truth. What do we mean by truth? We understand truth to be defined by material reality. Any ideas or theories which are contrary to material reality, we hold to be false, and what is indeed material reality we hold to be true. This presents two fundamental principles - the truth and the lie. We believe that all goodness and righteousness is founded upon the truth, while all evil and wickedness is founded upon the lie. The self-evident fact that wickedness is presently dominating the world is to us a revelation of the everywhere prevalent and desperate need for truth. It is our purpose and mission to come to understand the truth with increasing clarity and to let shine its ever brightening light upon all.

We have come to understand that there is, in the writings of the ancient Hebrew prophets, a revelation of righteousness and truth. Though many superficially cast aside these writings as though they are not possible to understand, we have seen that they have a definite meaning which can be understood, if only sought out by careful and honest investigation. Today, hundreds of prophetic manuscripts which have been preserved for over two thousand years, are available to modern readers. Within these texts are very specific predictions which, we cannot deny, have met their fulfillment in the historical man, Jesus of Nazareth. We bear witness to the fact that the teachings of this man, if received, free the individual from all falsehood and wickedness, restoring in his thinking reason, truth, and love. We believe that these facts, though objective, must be acquired by an individual and experimental knowledge of the truth. We therefore invite all who are willing and desirous to learn, to make the experiment - to taste and to see that these things are so and that they are good.

As was testified to by his contemporaries, "No one has ever spoken like this man [Jesus] speaks" (John 7:46). He himself said, "I have not spoken of my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken" (John 12:49), and "If I testify of myself, my testimony is not true" (John 5:31). Since we cannot deny the truth of any of the teachings of Christ, and since what he taught supercedes all the wisdom which men have to offer, we must bear witness along with him, that his teachings did not originate with him, but came from One of superior wisdom to all men. We believe this One to be the Father, the Most High God, Who rules over all.

In Christ's last teaching to his disciples before his death (John 14-16), he told them of someone else who would be sent to guide them into all truth. He said, ".. the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything..." (John 14:26). That Christ was true to his promise is evident from the events which followed in the next few years with the revelation of truth by the Holy Spirit to such men as Paul, Peter, Jude, John, etc. who wrote much of what many now call "The New Testament." The writings of these men tell of being freed from sin by receiving the truth into our thinking and casting out all falsehood. They called this "justification [being made righteous] by faith." Today, we testify, along with these men, that it is indeed possible to be freed from all sin, and that, by a reception of truth. We testify to these things not because our theory tells us it is true, but because we have done the experiment and have seen with our eyes and have felt with our hands that it is true (1 John 1:1).

The message of truth, as revealed through all the prophets from the beginning up to the present, tells us that our Creators are a Family (Eccl. 12:1; Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 1:20). We have been separated from this Family by the sins of our ancestors and by our own sins. In an effort to redeem us from this darkness of sin and falsehood, They have sent, and continue to send, messages to awaken us to our own condition and to Their love. They seek to stir up our wills to choose Them, to choose truth, and to stop sinning. We solemnly bear Their message with a sense of duty and with much hope, knowing that there are those who will be willing to investigate this message upon its own merits, to simply see if it is true.
